Game Audio Producer & Sound Designer

Our Game Audio Producer & Sound Designer course is now open

We have just been granted permission to start a brand new YH program within the university of applied sciences. The program is a two-year full-time course called 'Game Audio Producer & Sound Designer' and is the only one of its kind in the university of applied sciences.

With great support from the gaming industry and its players in sound design and composition, the program will start in the fall of 2023, and the application opens already on February 1, in about two weeks.

"The gaming industry is growing like crazy, there will be many jobs in the future. As there is a shortage of sound designers with actual experience, an education like this can help fill the needs of audio professionals needed in the gaming industry of the future" says Linus Söderlund, Audio Director at Resolution Games.

Axel Åkerlund, COO at Immersive Music Group, also sees great value in this new training. "We believe that this education will contribute to new jobs and broader skills development locally. The demand is there, so why not meet it in Stockholm and Sweden instead of the gaming companies seeking labor from abroad? Seems like a no-brainer."

As the program has a close interaction with the gaming industry, students will have direct access to valuable contacts and will have the opportunity to build their career as a sound designer, composer, sound engineer or much more right after graduation.

The program is designed to give students the knowledge and experience needed to create, edit and implement sound in games, as well as the skills to compose music adapted for video games. Besides this, the training also covers how to use middleware such as Wwise and Fmod, how to optimize your machine, how to organize your workflow, how to work skillfully with producers and developers, how to market yourself and be visible in the industry, a longer internship period, as well as how the structure of the game market is organized and much more.

Audio Production Academy is looking forward to opening up this education and is now expanding in the form of new premises for the school. "We have worked for over two years to be able to realize this education and we are so happy and honored that the Authority for Higher Vocational Education has given us the confidence to start" says Malin Sami, Head of Operations at Audio Production Academy.
