You can also download the instructions for this year's work samples on the education information page. Once you have created and completed your work sample, upload all files and your upper secondary school grades in your application on yh-antagning.se.
You can find the application button and the instructions for the work test on this page.

Applications are open once a year, usually between February and April. You can find the dates for each application period on that program's page.
You will usually receive an answer as to whether you have a place on the course around midsummer.
-
All our YH courses are completely free and CSN-eligible.
-
The reason we need to see your admission tests is so that we can see that there are good chances for you to benefit from the program.
The fact that the admission test is the same for everyone means that all applicants are compared on exactly the same terms, which means it's fair. The admission test gives us a chance to see what you can do and who you are beyond your grades. It is your answers to the questions and the practical work you submit that allow us to find out more about your musical background and experience, and assess whether you approach the tasks creatively.
-
Of course you can! You can apply to our program through something called prior learning. If you do not have a high school diploma and want to refer to prior learning, you do so in your application at yh-antagning.se.
You then download this form, which you fill in and then upload to your application on yh-antagning.se. The form is a competence mapping that helps us determine if you have the skills required to study on our YH programs even if you do not have an upper secondary school diploma.
-
The competition consists of three parts. You will find clearer instructions on how to complete each paper under each respective part in the instructions for the admission test.
Part 1: Work sample - Select and create a work sample from two different options.
Part 2: Own projects - Upload two of your own song projects.
Part 3: Tell us about yourself - Questions about you and your previous music background.
Read the instructions carefully! Once you have created and completed all parts of your admission test, check that you have saved all files in the correct name and format, and then upload them to your application on yh-antagning.se.

If you are placed on a reserve place for a full-time program, this means that you will receive a place if someone declines their offer.
-
You do not need to have any equipment of your own to enrol in one of our YH programs.
Most people prefer to have their own laptop with a DAW installed before school starts, but we have loaner computers if you don't have your own computer and need to borrow one. Everything except computers is available at all times and in our student studios we have midi keyboards, monitors, microphones, guitars, headphones, sound cards etc.
-
During the Audio & Music Producer program, you work very practically and write and produce approx. 1 song a week. You therefore have great access to our studios, and there is always a studio available for you to use. In total, we have 10 fully equipped student studios for our YH students.
-
You will have a long traineeship period at the end of your training. The traineeship is a full 16 weeks and the last thing you do before your degree. The reason why the traineeship ends the whole program is so that you can seamlessly start working on your traineeship, if you get it right!
-
From your very first weeks in the program, you will meet people from the music industry, and every other project you work on is commissioned by a publisher, record label, company or organization. You are constantly in contact with producers, songwriters, artists, A&R's, managers, executives and other exciting people working in the music industry; both as a guest lecturer, through the management team or as a client. This way, you as a student will have plenty of time to build your network and make important contacts in your future professional life, which is important both before your internship, but also after you have graduated and are about to enter the working world!
-
Each higher vocational education program is started because the industry in question is in need of various specific skills, and YH programs in particular provide good job opportunities after graduation. According to MYH, 9 out of 10 students get a job within 1 year of graduation.
But after your education, it is of course also about your ambitions in combination with your previous experience, contact network and personal drive. What we can guarantee from AP Academy is support, increased knowledge in the area you are studying and an expanded network of contacts.
-
The Audio & Music Producer program mainly leads to freelance jobs, which is why we have an entrepreneurship and business course included in the program. It's important that you understand how to work as a freelancer and in projects, and earn money from your music when the training is over, so that's why we take you through the whole process of setting up a sole proprietorship and starting to invoice for your work.
Questions about courses
Frequently asked questions about anything to do with our various part-time courses. Don't hesitate to email us if your question is not answered below!
-
Most of our courses are offered once or twice a semester. However, some courses are offered more often than that. The next course start date will be published as soon as we have finished accepting applications for the course in question.
Most - but not all - of the AP Academy's full-time programs start once a year, in the autumn semester.
-
The maximum number of participants per course varies but is never more than 20 per course start. When taking a course, the number usually varies between 6 and 10 participants.
If we have a lot of qualified applicants for a distance learning course, we start parallel groups.
-
For almost all of our music production courses, you will need your own computer with a DAW installed, and a pair of headphones. Which DAW you should have installed depends on which course you choose, and it is specified in the course description. The three DAWs we teach are Ableton Live, Logic Pro and FL Studio. Some advanced music production courses do not have specific DAW requirements, which means that you can take the course regardless of which DAW you use.
We have fully equipped studios in the school with all the music equipment you need to record, write and produce music. As a student on our music production courses, you will have access to our student stations with midi keyboard, screen, mouse and keyboard during lessons. If you do not have access to a computer or headphones, please let us know before the start of the course, and we will arrange a loan computer for you.
-
You get different amounts of studio time depending on the course you are taking. If you are taking one of our longer courses of ≈ 1 semester, you have the opportunity to book studio time during weekends.
If you take our shorter courses, you still get a lot of your own studio time as we always have a lot of scheduled time for your own work during your course.
-
Sometimes we offer courses that have the same name but different formats. For example, a course may be offered both remotely and in the evening. Our course content for each course may then differ slightly, as there are often different course leaders and guest lecturers. Read about the current course content on each course page and compare which one is best for you.
-
How do I know if I should take an Ableton Live, Logic Pro or FL Studio course?
The DAW (digital audio workstation) you use depends partly on the computer you have, and partly on your previous experience. If you are a complete beginner, you can choose freely, based on your computer. Ableton Live works on both Macs and PCs, Logic Pro works on Macs, and FL Studio works on Macs and PCs.
If you already have experience with any of the above DAWs, we recommend you to book a course in the DAW you are comfortable with.
If you want to read more about the different programs, you can go to our training guide. -
Our courses are divided into levels: beginner, intermediate and advanced.
Beginner: This level means that you can take the course even if you have no previous experience in music, or if the subject matter of the course is completely new to you.
Intermediate: This level means that you should have started your music making and be familiar with any of the DAWs we teach. You should have started creating songs, and understand arranging, recording, basic workflow and mixing.
Advanced: This level means that you are highly skilled in music production and have been producing music for several years. Our advanced courses give you cutting-edge knowledge in very specific areas and are a great complement when you want to take your music-making to the next level.
Find out more about the different levels and what they mean in our education guide.

Our part-time courses are not CSN-eligible.
Questions about distance/online
Frequently asked questions about everything related to our distance learning courses. Don't hesitate to email us if your question is not answered below!
-
A lesson in our distance learning courses has the same structure as a lesson in our physical courses. All lessons in the distance course are streamed live, and you meet in a digital classroom according to the course schedule. Each lesson is three hours long, and the lesson structure includes both review, own work, individual feedback with your instructor and interactions with your classmates.
The instructor can help you with your project at any time during the course, and by sharing a screen with the instructor, they can also gain insight into your projects and homework in the same way as in a physical course.

Absolutely! Your instructor can take you to a breakout room, where you can talk to just the instructor, ask questions and get help and feedback with your projects.
-
When you need individual help from your instructor, your instructor will take you to a breakout room, where you can talk to just the instructor, ask questions and get help and feedback with your projects. This is also where you can share a screen with the instructor, so that the instructor has access to your entire project and can quickly and easily see what you need help with.
-
Through our video tool Zoom, our instructors can conduct live lectures, post videos and ensure online group discussions. Face-to-face interaction with other course participants is achieved by having everyone visible on screen, combined with dialog and the possibility to have group conversations.
-
There is a feature in our online tool Zoom that allows you to raise your hand in the digital classroom. Your instructor will see that you have raised your hand and can help you in exactly the same way as when you raise your hand or need help in a physical classroom.
-
Actually, not very much. You have the same opportunities to interact with both your instructor and your classmates, and you also have opportunities to influence the course of the lesson in the same way as when you are physically on site. The instructor can help you with your project at any time during the course, and by sharing a screen with the instructor, they can also gain insight into your projects and homework in the same way as in a physical course.
-
We use Zoom for our online teaching. Fifteen minutes before a lesson is due to start, your instructor will send a link to your email address.
To join a lesson, click on the link. The first time you do so, you will be prompted to download a software that will then automatically launch and you can then choose to join the meeting.

Our full-time program Sound and Music Producer is completely free and CSN-eligible.
-
You can apply for CSN for our full-time YH programs.
For our courses, you are not eligible for student aid from CSN.
-
You certainly can! We use Klarna, which means that you can arrange your payment very flexibly. You choose your payment method when you book your course or accept your place, and can then choose between the payment methods offered by Klarna.
You have the option of paying your course fee in installments, interest-free, for up to 2 years.
-
It works really well. In connection with your booking, you enter the course participant's information in a form, and the payer's information in Klarna checkout.
-
You apply for all our courses via the website. You fill in your application via the course or program page under the "apply" button.
To apply for some of the courses and most of the full-time programs, you will need to attach files in the form of work samples in addition to filling in the form.
See more under each course on the website what is required to apply for the particular course you are interested in.
If there are several course dates open, be sure to choose the right course date.
Once you have booked and paid (or chosen partial payment) your course, your place is fully booked. You will receive an email with all practical information before the start of the course approx. 14 days before the start date. -
Your application for a course only becomes binding when you have been offered a place on your chosen course and then accepted the place, or when you have booked and paid for your place. For courses where we apply admission letters with response requirements, this means that, in order to keep your place in the course, you must accept no later than the date stated in the admission letter.
If you need to cancel your place after you have accepted or booked and your right of withdrawal has expired, you will be charged an administrative and set-up fee of 15% of the course fee. If you withdraw after the course has started, no part of the course fee will be refunded. You must complete your studies during the start of the course to which you have been admitted. Study breaks can only be granted in case of illness supported by a medical certificate.
-
In our courses, the course coordinator looks at whether your prior knowledge and approach will allow you to benefit from the course and be on a par with your peers.
-
When one of our courses becomes fully booked, you will be placed on a reserve list. If for any reason a participant needs to withdraw before the start of the course, we will contact the people on the reserve list in order of priority. Being on a reserve list does not commit you to anything until you are offered a place and then accept it.

After your education, it's all about your ambitions combined with your previous experience, network and personal drive.
