In your contacts with us at Audio Production Academy, we process personal data about you. Due to the EU's new data protection regulation (General Data Protection Regulation, GDPR), which applies from May 25, 2018, we have reviewed how Audio Production Academy handles personal data. In our privacy policy below, we have summarized how we use the information we have about you and how we work to protect your privacy in accordance with the GDPR. In order to provide our services, we need to process your personal data, and it is important to us that you understand how and for what purpose we process your personal data.
What is personal data?
Any kind of information that can be directly or indirectly attributed to a living natural person is considered personal data. Even images (photos) and sound recordings of individuals processed in computers can be personal data, even if no names are mentioned. Encrypted data and various types of electronic identities, such as IP numbers, are considered personal data if they can be linked to natural persons. Any operation involving personal data is personal data processing, such as collection, recording, organization, structuring, storage, adaptation or alteration, retrieval, consultation, use, disclosure, dissemination or otherwise making available, alignment or combination, restriction, erasure or destruction.
What personal data is processed?
YH education
If you apply for a YH education with us, we process your first and last name, social security number, telephone number, e-mail address, home address, postal address and application documents in the form of grades, entrance exams, certificates, CV and other information required in accordance with a YH application. When studying on a YH program, your social security number, first and last name, telephone number, e-mail address and results of examinations are processed.
Courses
When you book a course with us, we process your first and last name, social security number, telephone number, e-mail address, home address, postal address and application documents in the form of grades, entrance exams, certificates, CV and other information required in accordance with a booking or application for a course. This information is provided by you in connection with your application. When studying on a course, we process data on results, grades, etc.
Other processing
Other processing means when you register for an event, sign up for our newsletter or visit our website. Then your first and last name, e-mail address, which education you are studying, which event you have registered for, IP address, language setting, geographical location, as well as information about how you interact with AP Academy.
Where do we collect your personal data?

When you submit your application to us, all the information is provided by you. Information about results, grades, etc. is information that we register and collect.

What is the purpose of your personal data?
Vocational education and training
When you apply for a vocational education and training course, your personal data is used to process your application, make an admission decision and communicate with you about the course you have applied for. When you study on a higher education course, your personal data is used to administer your studies and grades, and to issue a diploma upon completion of the course.
Courses
When you apply or book a place on a course, your personal data is used to manage the application process, to fulfill the training place agreement (if you are accepted) and to issue certificates. Your personal data is used to enable you to complete your training. You are not obliged to disclose your personal data, but if you do not wish to disclose your personal data, we may not be able to offer you a place on a course.
Other processing
In the case of other processing of your personal data, they are used to improve our level of training, inform you of the other services we offer and communicate other news to you. They are also used for the purpose of being able to invoice you for the training you attend and for accounting purposes, fulfilling our obligations (i.e. organizing the event you have registered for), conducting customer satisfaction surveys and informing you about upcoming events and other news. We also use your personal data to promote our services, events and other marketing content to you and to provide and improve our services.
How do we use your personal data?
YH education
When you apply, we process your application documents in our assessment to determine whether you meet the eligibility requirements for the program you applied for, contact you for any additions to your application, and to notify you of your admission decision. If you are studying on a higher education program, we will send you study-related information. Your data is also disclosed to collaborating authorities (MYH, CSN, SCB, etc.).
Courses
When you apply or register for one of our courses, we assess whether you are eligible for the course you are applying for (when you apply, not when you register) and assign a selection score and make an admission decision. We also communicate course and program-related information to you. Our staff, as well as the teachers and other training staff AP Academy engages through consulting and subcontracting agreements, need access to your data to fulfill their purpose of teaching their course and communicating with current course participants. We will not transfer your data to any other third party, unless we are required by law or court order to do so.
Other processing
AP Academy uses your data to be able to contact you regarding participation in surveys and surveys in relation to your education and school, contact you by e-mail with information about upcoming events, other training and other news, and to be able to invoice and manage our ongoing accounting. We use your personal data to organize the event and contact you about the event, e.g. if changes occur regarding time and venue, and to send out other event-related information. We use your personal data to send direct marketing messages to you via the e-mail address you have provided. We also process the data to improve our technical solutions and to measure traffic on the website. In conducting our business, we use IT subcontractors in and outside Sweden, who process your personal data through the performance of services relating to the website, storage and IT environment. We have written assistance agreements with all assistants in accordance with the GDPR, thereby ensuring a good level of security for your data. Your data will never be sold, or transferred, for direct marketing by third parties. We may share your information and personal data with third-party providers, such as system providers and partners, in order to deliver our services, manage customer relationships and improve our business. We ensure that all parties we work with comply with applicable data protection legislation. Your data is only used in accordance with this policy and is never shared unnecessarily. You always have the right to request transparency on how your information is handled. By making a purchase with us, you agree to receive emails with news, offers and relevant information about our services. You can unsubscribe from these emails at any time by following the instructions in the email or contacting us directly.
How long do we keep your personal data?
YH-utbildning
We are obliged to save documentation about the admission process and also to be able to show how cases are handled, which means that we save your application information regardless of whether you are admitted or not. If you are not admitted to a YH program, we will retain your personal data for the duration of the program you applied for, after which your personal data will be deleted. When studying on a YH program, we will, according to the Ordinance (2009: 130) on Higher Vocational Education and MYH's regulations, preserve your study documentation during your study period in order to be able to issue a certificate/degree. Furthermore, MYH requires that we as education providers keep documents (i.e. study documentation about you) as long as the education is included in the higher vocational education until two years after the decision to be included in higher vocational education no longer applies. This means that as long as the education you have studied is a UAS education with us (according to a decision from MYH), the study documentation is retained.
To enable you to contact us after completing your studies and request certificates, grades or other information about your completed studies, we will keep your personal data for up to 10 years after the end of your studies. After that, they are deleted.
Courses
We process your personal data for the duration of your training/course. Once you have completed your studies, we save information regarding your study documentation (grades, results, certificates, courses taken, etc.) for up to ten years. We do this so that you, as a former student/course participant, can request certificates and other information about the education/course you have participated in.
Other processing
Your personal data will be stored for up to two years after your last customer contact with us. After that, we consider that we no longer have any interest in processing your data for the purpose in question. If you subscribe to our newsletter, we will process your personal data during the time you are a subscriber to our newsletter. You can unsubscribe at any time by either following the link provided in each newsletter or contacting us. When you unsubscribe, our processing of your personal data will cease.
In case you do not wish to receive customer satisfaction surveys or our marketing, you can object to this at any time - either by emailing us, or by following the link provided in each email. In the event of such a request, AP Academy will immediately stop processing your data for marketing purposes.
The processing of personal data when visiting our website ceases when you close your browser. Thus, no personal information about you as a visitor is stored. The information processed after you close your browser does not constitute personal data and thus cannot be traced to you.
Legal basis
YH-utbildning
We process your data in the way that is necessary for us to be able to make an admission decision in accordance with Act 2009:128 on Higher Vocational Education, Ordinance 2009:130 on Higher Vocational Education and in accordance with regulations issued by the Swedish Higher Vocational Education Authority. If you are admitted to the program, we must, according to the above law and regulation, administer your education and process your personal data regarding the courses you take, grades, diplomas and other documentation needed to administer your education. Performing these purposes is an exercise of public authority and a task of public interest established by Swedish law.
Courses
We process your personal data for the performance of a contract (training place contract) to which you are a party. To fulfill the contract, we need to process your data before the contract is concluded, such processing takes place at your request when you apply for a training place. For the performance of the contract, e.g. with regard to issuing training certificates or course certificates etc. we also need to take action after you have completed your training/course.
Other processing
We process your personal data in order to fulfill the agreement entered into in connection with event registration, as well as to be able to fulfill the agreement entered into with you in connection with you signing up as a subscriber to our newsletter. In order for us to fulfill our obligations (i.e. send out the newsletter you have signed up for), we need to process your personal data.
The personal data processing that takes place to enable our accounting obligations is processed for up to seven years after the end of the financial year. We are therefore legally obliged to process your personal data (name and billing address) during this period.
AP Academy has legitimate interests in conducting market and customer analysis, method and business development and collecting statistical data. In order to fulfill these interests, we need to process your personal data as described above. The legal basis for this processing is the balancing of interests. After careful consideration, AP Academy has found that your interests or fundamental rights or freedoms in this context do not outweigh and require the protection of personal data, but that we as an education provider can process the statistical data to develop our business.
Furthermore, we assess that you, by being part of the business, are interested in receiving information about upcoming events, other trainings and other news about the business, which is why we assess that we have a legitimate interest in producing marketing material and marketing our services to you. AP Academy has after careful consideration found that your interests or fundamental rights or freedoms in the context do not outweigh and require the protection of personal data, which is why AP Academy can support a processing on the above legitimate interests.

Your rights
Audio Production Academy does not have the right to use your personal data for purposes other than those stated above, without first receiving information and giving your consent. You have the right to request access to your stored data, which refers to the data that you yourself have provided to the data controller. You also have the right to request rectification of your personal data if you consider it to be incomplete or inaccurate, to request erasure of your personal data, to object to the way we process your personal data and to withdraw your consent to us processing your personal data.
Complaints
